It seems a little bit more complicated than just tribe - unless the Shia are voting Shiite and tribe. I agree that the secular nub is very interesting. I'm still hoping for a secularist/Kurd alliance strong enough to give a good offset to Allawi's group. I trust Chalabi a lot more than I trust Allawi. I like Talabani better than Allawi for that matter.

It's still a little confusing. But the notion of moving from loyalty to tribe to loyalty to country is beginning to gather steam.
It will still take a while. But, damn, the Iraqi people are certainly moving in the right direction.
